Long Socks Are Cool, It’s Official!

X-Socks Speed Metal Energizer Socks

X-Socks Speed Metal Energizer Socks

However, perhaps more importantly I’ve got two new X-Socks models that feature Smart Compression which will give you more energy.

The Speed Metal Energizer Running Socks

Ok, I admit, this really is at the top end of the market and is expensive but the technology, R&D and testing that have been employed have produced a seriously effective pair of socks that will keep your feet cool in mega hot weather and give your more engery. They’ll probably even make you run faster ;o)

The Speed Metal Energizers use many X-Socks Technologies to ensure that warm moist air is removed from your feet and replaced with cooler air. The specially developed yarn, XITANIT, actually reflects heat from around and draws heat away from your feet. Your feet will be cool in the heat and you really will notice the difference. If you are a beginner runner then you’ll probably not have a need for these socks, however if you are even a little bit experienced and if you’re running in the heat then you’ll know how important it is to keep your feet cool.

The second new pair of X-Socks available right now is the Trekking Energizer Trekking Socks. These offer the same excellent as many of the top class trekking x-socks as well as the Smart Compression to give you more energy.

Your feet are kept cool and dry, your feet are well cushioned where they need to be and supported around the ankle. You’ll not get blisters and they’ll last for years.

There’s only 31 days to go before several customers of buyXsocks.com will be crossing the Atacama Desert in Chile. This grueling 7 day endurance foot race is held at least one mile above sea level and covers 250km and, for sure, have you got to be fit and extremely motivated to take part.

One such motivate person to do the Atacama Crossing is buyXsocks.com customer Simon Wade. Simon is an old hand to these events, he has previously completed the Jungle Marathon in 2006 (he wore X-Socks for that too) and has decided to do the Atacama Crossing for charity.

Simon is running for an extremely important cause, Type 1 Diabetes, which means a great deal for him and he has been training for over a year for this event.

Running Socks for the Atacama Crossing
Simon used theX-Socks Run Performance Running Socksfor the Jungle Marathon and has chose the same socks for his Atacama Crossing. He will be taking 3 pairs with him to last for the week. The Run Performance Socks are light, well padded in all the right places and the design ensures the feet are constantly supplied with fresh air and an ideal temperature is maintained which all reduces the possibility of blisters to almost nothing.

if you like it, of course. I mean, there’s no point in doing something you really can’t stand or that you don’t have a really important goal to achieve at the end. So suppose you are running mad or you have an interest in raising money for charity, if so then 5k, 10k, Half Marathons and the Biggies events are happening all over the country (and World, probably).

So next exciting one that I know of is the Sony Ericsson Run To The Beat London Half Marathon which kicks off at the O2 at 09:45 on October 5th 2008. Registration for this event is now closed but if you are one of the 12500 competitors then I want to know about it – let me know if you are, it would be great to hear your story.

It looks like Nokia are part of another event called The London Half Marathon (confused? So am I, only a little though) which starts at 10:00 on October 12th in Hyde Park. This event is actually called the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and registration for this is also closed although you might be able to get in with a charity partner before this friday. Once again, if you are in on this one then let me know, it would be great to hear from you.

It goes without saying that you need to be fully prepared when going these distances. So you training has to be right and you clothing has to be spot on too. Obviously, this being the BXS Blog, I am going to mention SOCKS right now. I won’t go in to massive detail about which socks are best for you but I will say that socks are the part of the interface between you and the road – if your socks are poor quality and a poor fit then no matter how good your expensive made to measure running shoes are you will still have a poor experience.

All I am saying is: buy good quality socks to improve your comfort on your runs. There is no point having blisters, excess fabric, wet/damp feet when you can have fresh, dry, protected, blister free socks that can even prevent injuries.

Preventing Blisters – oooh

So, I just came across an article on eHow called “How to Treat and Prevent Blisters Caused by Running” – the eHow regulars have given the article 4 stars out of 5 and it gives you a list of 6 products and ‘treatments’ for blisters.

Let me tell you that I hope you don’t have to go past tip number 2. Tip number 1 is telling you to buy some decent running shoes and then, guess what, tip number 2 tells you to invest in a decent pair of running socks. The image use is, of course, an X-Sock (model: Run Speed One).
The writer of the article is quite right in saying that a decent pair of socks will wick moisture away from your feet and therefore reducing blisters. He says “stay away from cotton socks”, I agree totally.
Let’s hope you really don’t have to get down to tip 6.
Have fun and check out all the X-Socks Running Socks on buyXsocks.com
