So the London Marathon 2010 is not that far away now, are you looking forward to the April 25th 2010? I am, although I am not running the London Marathon I do like to either go in person and dart around the city following people I know and those I don’t and usually sampling one or two refreshment establishments on my journey. It tends to be a excellent day, if you spot someone wearing a buyXsocks.com T-Shirt please do say “Hello James” – it might be me.
Anyhoo, back to the London Marathon 2010 and why I am writing a little post about it. February each year brings in a BOOM in running socks generally for people training for the London Marathon in April, or for half marathons and even ultra marathons where socks are usually worn between skin and shoe. While this graphic doesn’t give you actual numbers of socks sold it highlights that a lot of people buy running socks – well at least they do from buyXsocks.com

So, which are the best socks for running marathons? It depends on a few factors, for example, how hot it is and where you are, i.e. you might wear a different pair of X-Socks if you were running the Marathon De Sables than the New York marathon. I mean, you don’t ‘have’ to wear different ones you just might find that some are more appropriate, that’s all.
So let me highlight some of the marathon socks for you right now:
X-Socks Sky Run Socks
These socks, X-Socks Sky Run, are designed for marathon runners or distance runners and have a good loyal following. They’re lightweight, highly breathable and have padding in all the right places. The silver foot bed in these socks keeps your feet fresh all day long. Some would say almost the perfect marathon socks.

X-Socks Run Performance Socks

Although perhaps intended for shorter distances than marathons the Run Performance running socks do also make you feel like you’re running on air and are a cheaper alternative than the Sky Run Socks offer supreme excellent value. These again are light, padded well in the all right areas reduce the possibility of blister and these are possibly more breathable than the Sky Run Socks so might be an ideal choice for a warmer days running of 26 miles or so.

X-Socks Run Energizer Compression Socks

If you’re looking for something that takes care of your calves as well as your poor feet then you’d cultivate an interest in compression socks and the Run Energizer Compression Socks. Theses longer length running socks provide your calves with a decent compression to pump the blood around more efficiently than you could on your own, this saves you energy and can reduce your heart rate.
>> If you need compression get the X-Socks Run Energizer Compression Socks
X-Socks Speed Metal Energizer Compression Socks

If you’re looking for top of the range heat reflecting compression socks then the Speed Metal Energizer Compression Socks are the thing. The Speed Metal Energizer Running Sock is a long sock, up to your knees, and that’s where the compression zone is. It works between your ankle and your knee. The rest of the sock makes use of many of the X-Socks technologies to eliminate blisters, keep your feet dry, stop hotspots, provide cushioning where needed and it also makes use of a newly developed yarn that X-Technology are called XITANIT
XITANIT reflects external heat making these running socks feel cooler to the skin that running that don’t use XITANIT - you really can feel the difference, but then again the Speed Metal Energizers are at the top end of the Running Sock market. As well as reflecting external heat the material draws heat and moisture away from feet as well.

Hello All,
I have some good news today, and that’s makes me happy but one of my readers will also be happy today because they are the winner of the March 2009 Free Sock Competition.
I received a good bunch of reviews during March and I appreciate every one of them. I shall keep you no longer, the winner for March is:
Garry Hill for his 5 Star review of the Run Performance socks. Here it is:
I always used Nike socks for running but within a month they always wore out (got holes etc). So tired of paying good money for a bad product I tried XSOCKS. I bought a pair of Run Performance which was the best decision I could have made. These socks are better than any other I have bought previously…FACT. Run Performance are a comfortable, practical and hard wearing sock that I would recommend to any runner.
Garry has just been notified by email so I will update you on what pair he chooses as his free pair of X-Socks.
Making reviews is easy and you get the chance to win a free pair of socks, simple – learn how to make reviews and enter the April competition right now by reading my Make Reviews To Win Free Socks page

I am happy to say that The Desert Foxes are back from the Marathon De Sable and all went well. The socks I provided certainly helped their feet stay relatively healthy during the week long foot race in the Sahara.
I hope to have an interview with the Foxes soon focussed on performing in such harsh conditions.
If you’re interested the socks they used were the:
Run Energizer
Run Performance
Cheers
James.
I love this review, not just because it big’s up X-Socks but more because the X-Path to enlightenment works. This guy spends £7.50 on some running socks from the ‘discovery’ range (in case you don’t know, the X-Socks Discovery range is lower in price, the socks have a reduced feature set and are aimed at people either new to their sport or new to X-Socks). You could probably get 3 pairs of running socks in budget shops for £7.50, but they’re not going to be any good at all for your feet and you’ll most likely suffer from damp, clammy, blistered feet that you rather pretend you never had.
It get’s better: The £7.50 has helped this customer realise that X-Socks really are the best socks in the world and that there are a whole range of wonder items to keep his feet feeling fresh and energized during and after sport.
Here’s the review:
Best £7.50 I ever Spent!
As a complete beginner to running I was advised to get some proper running gear to help prevent injury. Wearing the correct running shoes and compression gear certainly helps but the difference these socks make is amazing. No More Hot rubbing feet 2 miles in to a five mile run! They provide cushioning where you need it while being remarkably thin. At £7.50 These babies were the cheapest addition to my running wardrobe but they are by far the piece of kit I would not be without. As I progress into greater distances, I will be giving the run performance or the EVO Run socks a try.
socks: X-Socks Run Discovery; X-Socks Run Performance; X-Socks Run Evolution
Don’t get sucked in to thinking that you don’t need to invest in decent socks because you can get cheap ones and you can own lots of them. Much better for your enjoyment of your chosen activity to get socks you will enjoy wearing and that will look after your feet.
Comments welcome.
James.
There’s only 31 days to go before several customers of buyXsocks.com will be crossing the Atacama Desert in Chile. This grueling 7 day endurance foot race is held at least one mile above sea level and covers 250km and, for sure, have you got to be fit and extremely motivated to take part.
One such motivate person to do the Atacama Crossing is buyXsocks.com customer Simon Wade. Simon is an old hand to these events, he has previously completed the Jungle Marathon in 2006 (he wore X-Socks for that too) and has decided to do the Atacama Crossing for charity.
Simon is running for an extremely important cause, Type 1 Diabetes, which means a great deal for him and he has been training for over a year for this event.
Running Socks for the Atacama Crossing
Simon used the
X-Socks Run Performance Running Socksfor the Jungle Marathon and has chose the same socks for his Atacama Crossing. He will be taking 3 pairs with him to last for the week. The Run Performance Socks are light, well padded in all the right places and the design ensures the feet are constantly supplied with fresh air and an ideal temperature is maintained which all reduces the possibility of blisters to almost nothing.

I have a customer competing in the amazing Atacama Crossing Race 2009, what an amazing event and spectacular experience to look forward to. He is running for a cause, of which I will give more details soon.
The socks purchased in preparation for the event are the Run Performance Socks – excellent choice with plenty of padding to help on a week long race.
