So the London Marathon 2010 is not that far away now, are you looking forward to the April 25th 2010? I am, although I am not running the London Marathon I do like to either go in person and dart around the city following people I know and those I don’t and usually sampling one or two refreshment establishments on my journey. It tends to be a excellent day, if you spot someone wearing a buyXsocks.com T-Shirt please do say “Hello James” – it might be me.
Anyhoo, back to the London Marathon 2010 and why I am writing a little post about it. February each year brings in a BOOM in running socks generally for people training for the London Marathon in April, or for half marathons and even ultra marathons where socks are usually worn between skin and shoe. While this graphic doesn’t give you actual numbers of socks sold it highlights that a lot of people buy running socks – well at least they do from buyXsocks.com

So, which are the best socks for running marathons? It depends on a few factors, for example, how hot it is and where you are, i.e. you might wear a different pair of X-Socks if you were running the Marathon De Sables than the New York marathon. I mean, you don’t ‘have’ to wear different ones you just might find that some are more appropriate, that’s all.
So let me highlight some of the marathon socks for you right now:
X-Socks Sky Run Socks
These socks, X-Socks Sky Run, are designed for marathon runners or distance runners and have a good loyal following. They’re lightweight, highly breathable and have padding in all the right places. The silver foot bed in these socks keeps your feet fresh all day long. Some would say almost the perfect marathon socks.

X-Socks Run Performance Socks

Although perhaps intended for shorter distances than marathons the Run Performance running socks do also make you feel like you’re running on air and are a cheaper alternative than the Sky Run Socks offer supreme excellent value. These again are light, padded well in the all right areas reduce the possibility of blister and these are possibly more breathable than the Sky Run Socks so might be an ideal choice for a warmer days running of 26 miles or so.

X-Socks Run Energizer Compression Socks

If you’re looking for something that takes care of your calves as well as your poor feet then you’d cultivate an interest in compression socks and the Run Energizer Compression Socks. Theses longer length running socks provide your calves with a decent compression to pump the blood around more efficiently than you could on your own, this saves you energy and can reduce your heart rate.

X-Socks Speed Metal Energizer Compression Socks

If you’re looking for top of the range heat reflecting compression socks then the Speed Metal Energizer Compression Socks are the thing. The Speed Metal Energizer Running Sock is a long sock, up to your knees, and that’s where the compression zone is. It works between your ankle and your knee. The rest of the sock makes use of many of the X-Socks technologies to eliminate blisters, keep your feet dry, stop hotspots, provide cushioning where needed and it also makes use of a newly developed yarn that X-Technology are called XITANIT
XITANIT reflects external heat making these running socks feel cooler to the skin that running that don’t use XITANIT - you really can feel the difference, but then again the Speed Metal Energizers are at the top end of the Running Sock market. As well as reflecting external heat the material draws heat and moisture away from feet as well.
