I win
Jun/090
The May 2009 Review Writing Competition was won by me. You see, no one wrote a review during May so I can’t give away a free pair of X-Socks. That’s a shame really because all winning review writers so far have been extremely pleased that they have won and very grateful for a brand new free pair of X-Socks.
If you didn’t know about the competition it’s quite simple. You write a review about some socks on www.buyXsocks.com and at the end of each month I read the reviews for that month and award the ‘best’ review a free pair of X-Socks. You’ve got to be in it to win it so go to www.buyXsocks.com and get a review written during June and give yourself the chance to be a winner.
Have Fun.
James.

Winner Of the April Free Sock Competition
May/090
I have just announced the winner of my monthly competition. This month the winner of the Free Sock Competition is Ian Greaves. Ian bought some socks from us in October 2008 and has used them during his introduction to running, being a beginner he purchased the Run Discovery socks which were a perfect choice.
A perfect choice because being a beginner to the activity it makes sense to be careful with what your spending and also the feature set of the Discovery range is perfect for the level of activity that a beginner might be experiencing.
Here is an excerpt from Ian’s review:
These babies were the cheapest addition to my running wardrobe but they are by far the piece of kit I would not be without
Read the rest of Ian’s review on the X-Socks Run Discovery Socks page here just scroll to the bottom where the Customer Reviews are.
Ian has plans on running greater distances and as such might be looking for some X-Socks higher up the range to cope with the greater demands the feet deal with when on longer distances.
Well done Ian and your free pair will be on their way soon.
Have Fun
James.
April Sock Review Competition
May/090
Later today people, I will be announcing the winner of the April 2009 Sock Review Competition winner. As you probably know by now, each month I read the reviews submitted that month and choose the best one and give that person a free pair of X-Socks – pretty cool. Stay tuned for the announcement.
March Free Sock Competition Winner
Apr/090
Hello All,
I have some good news today, and that’s makes me happy but one of my readers will also be happy today because they are the winner of the March 2009 Free Sock Competition.
I received a good bunch of reviews during March and I appreciate every one of them. I shall keep you no longer, the winner for March is:
Garry Hill for his 5 Star review of the Run Performance socks. Here it is:
I always used Nike socks for running but within a month they always wore out (got holes etc). So tired of paying good money for a bad product I tried XSOCKS. I bought a pair of Run Performance which was the best decision I could have made. These socks are better than any other I have bought previously…FACT. Run Performance are a comfortable, practical and hard wearing sock that I would recommend to any runner.
Garry has just been notified by email so I will update you on what pair he chooses as his free pair of X-Socks.
Making reviews is easy and you get the chance to win a free pair of socks, simple – learn how to make reviews and enter the April competition right now by reading my Make Reviews To Win Free Socks page
Have Fun

Free Sock Comp – March 09 – finished
Mar/090
So, gone midnight and now officially the 1st of April 2009 – meaning that the Free Sock Competition for March 2009 has finished. I’ve had a good bunch of entries this month and Nicky and I are going to have fun going through them and choosing the ‘best’ review – the writer of which wins a free brand new pair of X-Socks – HOW COOL IS THAT?
November 2008 Free Sock Competition Winner
Dec/080
So each month I give away a free pair of X-Socks to the customer who submits the best product review during that month. ‘The Best’ review is determined by me and who ever else I ask to read the reviews – there are no criteria, just what I decide at that time to be ‘The Best’.
The winner for the October 2008 Free Sock Comp is: Ron Parker and here is his review of the Trekking Extra Warm Socks
I have used Smartwool socks up to now because there weren’t any real alternatives until these.
Comfort and fit, like all x socks is superb and the clincher for these socks are the raised sections on the top of the foot and the ankle which allow the sock huge flexibility to bend without rucking up. Look at the socks you use. Put them on and bend your foot. Do you get wrinkles on top of your foot and around your ankle? You don’t with these socks. This gives longer term comfort and less rubbing within your boot.
Oh, did I mention that they’re pretty warm too?
Congratulations to Ron, I’ll email him later today to give him the good news. I chose Ron’s review because he hit the nail right on the head when describing one of the advantages of the Trekking Extra Warm Socks over conventional outdoor socks.
Here are a couple of the others:
Sarah Cheetham on the Winter Run Socks
Returning to running after an injury meant that I wanted to do everything I could to ensure i stayed injury free and so of course attention has to be paid to the feet. Whilst suitable trainers are of course essential one should never underestimate the difference a pair of socks makes! Having tried various other well known branded running socks in my so far short running life, my quest continued to find the perfect sock for me and so i turned to x-socks which were slightly more expensive than others on the market. But wow you certainly get what you pay for and they really do do exactly what they say they do. The socks are labeled L and R and so you know that the socks technology is tailored specifically for each foot and from the minute you put them on you will instantly feel the difference compared to other socks. The added cushioning around the ankle gave me extra confidence when running and every run is a blister free and extremely comfortable one!
Jo Hesketh on the Run Energizer (Compression) Socks
I wore these socks in a half marathon at the weekend & they helped me along to a PB! My legs feel good today, better than I would usually expect after a hard race! Will definately be using them in my training up to the London Marathon 2009!
Well done to everyone that entered, well done to the runners up and well done to Ron.

Have Fun,
James.
November Free Sock Comp – Still TIME!
Nov/080
You’ve got all day tomorrow 30th November 2008 to have the chance to win some socks…
I give away a pair of new X-Socks every month to the best customer review of
socks in my shop. Last month in the October 2008 competition Ed Hawkins
gave an ace review of the Run Energizer Compression Socks and won himself a
great new pair of Run Sky Run socks (more on that later).
=> Go make a review: www.buyxsocks.com
All Ed did was take two minutes and make a customer review. He was lucky in
that I chose his review to be ‘the best’ of that month but he gave himself the
chance to win – simple and easy.
How do you make the review?
————————-
Simple and easy. You just find the sock on my web site, scroll down to the
Customer Reviews section and click ‘Post Your Review’. It should take you about
2 minutes, unless you write a book.
A few days in to next week I’ll announce the winner – simple and easy, so at
least give yourself the chance to win some socks and make a customer
review.
Good Luck,
James.

PS: I’ll write on the blog about Ed and his trip to Florida for an IronMan
October 2008 Free Sock Competition Winner
Nov/080
You might know by now that I give away a free pair of X-Socks to the customer who submits the best product review. There no criteria for what constitutes ‘The Best’, it’s just what I consider ‘The Best’ to be at that time.
The winner for the October 2008 Free Sock Comp is: Edward Hawkins and here is his review of the Run Energizer (Compression) Socks
I’ve been using these since Ironman UK this in prep for going the Ironman 70.3 World Cahmps in Florida on 8th November this year. At first I used during my longer training runs so I could recover quicker, but after two weeks I’ve brought another two pairs and I used them durin all my run sessions. I am also now going to use them on the bike and on the run sections in the World Champs! Super I can not speak any higher of them. Well worth the money, Cheers BuyXsocks.com, World Champs here I come!
Here are a few of the other reviews:
Peter Boswell on the Army Long Socks
I’m a lorry driver and I wanted some thick socks that didn’t make my feet sweat when I was wearing boots. I found Xsocks in a local shop but they only had ski style. I bought a pair to try, they were great. Comfortable, warm, excellent fit and they didn’t smell when I took them of. I searched the web to find a supplier of army style and found Oneoutdoors so I ordered some from them. Great service and the socks were excellent – even after wearing the same pair for more than a day they didn’t smell. They’ve been machine washed quite a few times now but still fit perfectly and look like they will last a long time. I’m so pleased with them that I’ve just ordered 5 more pairs [from the sister site, buyXsocks.com]
Anonymous on the Run Performance Socks
have loads of pairs of these socks and have run a few marathons in the last year or so and have never had any blisters, cuts or sores so they just cant be beat.
John Mc Elhinney on the Airforce 1 Socks
Slowly but surely Airforce 1 X-Socks are supplanting every other sock I have, and with very good reason: a very, cool, comfortable and light sock, yet with protection and support in all the right places, with the result that my feet never feel like they’ve done a day’s work!
Keith Ellis on the Sky Run Socks
Well, I ran my first Half Marathon on the 19th October 2008. I passed my PB of 2.03 minutes with a 1.52. I was of course running in Sky Run Socks. I have just discovered this product being new to running, well one year and god knows how many cotton sports sock later, and look forward to new challenges and finding which X-Socks help the best. I am quite sure Sky Run Socks helped me get through by not having to think about my feet. Well done.
Rachel Prince on the Lady Speed One Socks
Tried a couple of other brands but after reading rave reviews on the RW forum I tried these. They got me round the Great North Run – not a blister in sight! Marvellous!
I just want to say well done to everyone that made an entry, well done to the runners up and well done to Ed.
