Recent Stock Changes and Price Increase

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year to you, there is good new, bad news and then good news again.

Firstly I just want to say that we are sorry for any delays over the Christmas and New Period – the warehouse was overwhelmed and orders just took a little longer than usual to dispatch. Then of course we had all that snow which caused delivery problems with couriers and Royal Mail and then of course the backlog of orders. Now, however, I think we are back to the good times.

Good News: the size / colour variants have been updated on the web site so as to reflect stock limitations. I have removed variants where there is no current stock – all stock should be replenished on February 20th when all variants will be back online except for those models that are being discontinued or replaced with an updated model. I will inform you of all these in due course.

Bad News: Economy / exchange rates / Manufacturers / etc / etc / have all meant that our own prices have increased and the suggested retail prices have also increased so, sadly, the web site reflects these changes too.

Good News: to compensate a little for the price increase I have seen to it that you get more discount now for buying more socks. The quantity discounts have been increased now to these…

Annual Stock Taking – Yawn

Picture 16Hi everyone, I am very sorry to say that more delays are on the cards for your orders. The warehouse is on stock taking week and we can not dispatch orders until, most likely, at least Monday January 25th. I know this is frustrating, especially after the delivery problems of Christmas and then our break until New Year and then the problems and delays caused by the snow that the country couldn’t manage but there is nothing we can do about it I am afraid. Almost all other stores will be in the same situation.

We do of course have a small stock of socks in our office which we can dispatch from but this is reducing fast but could mean that your socks would arrive in the usual timescale. However, most orders will need to come from our warehouse and there will be a delay.

Do not let this stop you from ordering unless you need them for the coming weekend in which case you will need to send us an email to make the enquiry about possible delivery date.

Once again I am sorry for this but it does happen at least once a year for the majority of shops and warehouses.

Any questions you need to ask please just email us on james at buyxsocks dot com

Christmas Delivery

Now that we are very close to Christmas and that we do not charge anything for delivery of your orders we can not now promise that orders will be received in time for Christmas. They could still arrive in time but with the level of postal service that we use at Royal Mail we can not promise they’ll arrive in time for presents. There is of course a chance they will arrive in time but also a chance they won’t so please bear this in mind when making your orders.

We don’t charge for delivery and we use Royal Mail First Class post and orders are usually dispatched within  1 – 2 days. If there is an urgent enquiry and you are prepared to pay extra for Royal Mail Special Delivery then please get in contact and we’ll assess the possibility of an order arriving in time for Christmas.

Thanks for your support.

And we're back in the room

And we're back in the room

So, I don’t know what happened there but somehow time has past me by but now things are good and I’ve got some great plans for X-Socks and even X-Bionic clothing.

I must say “Sorry” to those people who haven’t yet received your chosen e-books but you can simply login to your account area and download the e-book from there. And also a BIG ‘SORRY’ to those who have submitted reviews over the past few months expecting to be crowned the WINNER for each month. I will get back on to this and get awarding.

Being truthful the slowdown in consumer spending has had an effect on my sales but nothing that would cause too many nightmares. This is certainly one advantage to being an internet only store however it still causes concern and hasn’t allowed me to grow the shop in to something with more power and more internet prominence. The main problem right now and over the last few weeks has been the Postal Strike, certainly a few weeks before the first strike took place people started to lose confidence and there was a period with very few sales and now with the second strike at the beginning of this week and the third strike to take place soon my business has suffered badly.

The disadvantage of being a small business is that we don’t have the resources to pay the large fees set by courier companies. I would very much like to avoid postal strikes and other unreliabilities that might arise from using Royal Mail but then I would have to charge a high postal service fee to you and / or make all orders subject to a minimum order value – both of which I don’t want to do.

However, if customers are happy to pay for a postal service then I would like to hear from you, please either comment here or email me
